Before you write to us, gather a few things

Most questions we get are about routes, pet paperwork, long-stay rentals or traveling with kids. When your message includes the details below, we can usually point you to the right post or tell you what we ran into ourselves. Nothing here is mandatory, and we are not a booking desk, a clinic or a migration office.

Where you are and where you are going

Name the cities or the stretch of route you have in mind, and roughly when. A question about a border crossing in November reads very differently from the same question in July, and bus pet policies change between companies and between routes.

Who is traveling

Adults, kids and their ages, plus any pet with breed, weight and carrier size. A small dog that fits under the seat is treated differently from one that has to travel in the hold, and family logistics change once school-age kids are involved.

How long you plan to stay

A weekend, a six-week stay and a full season each need a different setup. Long stays usually mean a temporary apartment rather than a hotel, and the paperwork for a pet can depend on how long the animal stays in the country.

What you have already tried

Listings you contacted, terminals you called, documents you already hold. It saves a round of back and forth and helps us avoid repeating advice you have already tested on your own.

Photos, when they help

A picture of your pet carrier, a rental listing screenshot or a photo of the space you are considering often explains more than a paragraph. Send them only if you are comfortable sharing, and skip anything with personal documents in the frame.

What a good answer looks like

Tell us whether you want a route suggestion, a link to a post we already wrote, or just a sanity check on your plan. We can share what we saw on the road. We cannot give legal, medical or specialist advice, and we cannot confirm availability, prices or bookings for any service.

Questions about a specific post, a route update or your own experience on the road are the ones we enjoy most. The monthly newsletter also carries a selection of reader questions, so a good one may end up helping other families planning the same stretch.

How to reach us, and what we can actually help with

Most messages we get come from families, couples and remote workers planning their own slow routes, and they usually ask about things we have already run into ourselves. We read everything, but we answer from wherever we happen to be parked that week, so please keep that in mind before you write.

Questions that fit the blog

Overland routes across South America, pet-friendly lodging, border paperwork for traveling with animals, long-stay apartment rentals, and the everyday side of slow travel with kids. If it is something we have written about or lived through on the road, we are glad to share what we learned.

What we cannot do

We are not lawyers, doctors or specialist advisers, so we cannot give legal, medical or money advice. We also cannot confirm availability, prices or bookings for any clinic, rental or bus company. Those answers have to come from the provider directly.

Where to send it

The contact page is the simplest way to reach us. Notes about a specific post, a route update, or your own experience on the road are all welcome, and some reader questions end up in the monthly newsletter.

Reaching the family behind the blog

We are a family from Buenos Aires who has been traveling with Jetta, our small dog, since 2019. Readers write in about overland routes, pet-friendly places to stay, border paperwork for animals, long-stay rentals, and slow travel with kids. If your question is about something we have actually done on the road, we are glad to hear it.

What we can and cannot answer

Questions that fit the blog

  • How we handled a vet visit in Mendoza and what the paperwork covered.
  • How we searched for a temporary apartment in Bariloche that accepts pets.
  • Which bus companies we found that allow small dogs in the cabin.
  • Route updates, seasonal notes, and reader experiences from your own trips.

What we cannot do

  • Give legal, medical, or specialist advice.
  • Confirm availability, prices, or bookings for any service.
  • Speak for clinics, landlords, or bus operators on your behalf.
  • Guarantee a reply or a specific turnaround time from the road.

Selected reader questions also appear in the monthly newsletter, alongside route updates from the trips we are currently on.
